Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Civil Servants' Unions staged a protest in the Coimbatore Power House area, their demands concerned various domains such as, solutions to the problems of the old-age pension, special-period, fixed-term pay for senior employees, fair price, solutions to problems faced by liquor store employees, and changes in the medical insurance scheme.
Balasubramanian, special leader of the Tamil Nadu Civil Servants Union, commandeered the protest.

“The Tamil Nadu government had not taken appropriate action regarding the civil servants' demands. The fight for changes in the pension scheme has spanned over 18 years. Yet there was no change in the Tamil Nadu government’s stance, even as changes came about, with regard to the pension schemes in other states such as Rajasthan. Therefore, the old pension scheme should be revised to provide pensions to the employees who currently are not entitled to pension services.
The Tamil Nadu government has also not acted on the demands of the employees of the fair price shop and the liquor stores. The government of Tamil Nadu should take immediate action on their demands and announce the demands of the employees under Rule 110 in the Assembly session to be held tomorrow.” said Balasubramanian, the special chairman of the Tamil Nadu Civil Servants Union, when addressing the press.
The demonstration also demanded that the Anganwadi workers be given the status of full-time employees as they work full-time anyways.
