News of tomato fever spreading in Kerala echoes in Coimbatore - Surveillance intensified at the Tamil Nadu border!

According to the Kerala Health Department, 85 children have been affected by the spread of tomato fever in Kerala so far. This infection is popularly known as tomato fever because it causes red patches on the skin.



Coimbatore: Health officials have stopped vehicles at the Walayar check post on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border to check for infection due to the spread of tomato fever in Kerala.

According to the Kerala Health Department, 85 children have been affected by the spread of tomato fever in Kerala so far. This infection is popularly known as tomato fever because it causes red patches on the skin. It mostly affects children under the age of five. Anganwadi centers in Kollam district have been closed due to heavy spread. Surveillance missions have been intensified.



In this situation, the Tamil Nadu Health Department has ordered the intense monitoring of the border districts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.



Based on this, surveillance has been intensified at 13 check posts including Walayaru, Velanthavalam, and Mangarai. The public coming to Coimbatore via Walayaru is allowed to enter the district only after being tested for fever by a thermal scanner.



The concerned authorities have also ordered the closure of Anganwadi Centers on the Coimbatore district border.
