Coimbatore: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched the "Amutham" scheme to provide free cow's milk to nursing mothers and children up to 2 years of age at the GD Stadium on Avinashi Road, Coimbatore yesterday.

The inaugural function was attended by many BJP leaders, including BJP state president Annamalai and the BJP national women's wing leader, and the MLA of South Coimbatore Vanathi Srinivasan.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, “Vanathi Srinivasan, the MLA elected by the people of Coimbatore, continues to do what is necessary for women and children. The Prime Minister encourages us to work for the people along with the people.”

Following this, Vanathi Srinivasan lauded the "Amutham" scheme for preventing breastfeeding mothers and children from poor families from having access to milk.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has stated that in the coming days, the people ought to vote for the BJP to form a government in Tamil Nadu and win more seats.

Speaking on the occasion, Southern Assembly Member Vanathi Srinivasan said that despite having big responsibilities in BJP, she is proud to serve as a Member of the Legislative Assembly.

“We are providing free sanitary pads to 4 thousand teenagers per month. To improve the health of the children of our country, nutritious food is being provided at Anganwadi Centers across the country.

Also, through the "Amutham" scheme introduced today, for those who register at the Anganwadi Centers, 250 ml of milk will be provided daily through local grocery stores” she said.

BJP state president Annamalai said, "The 'Amutham' scheme launched today is in place to prove that there is a habit of separating a portion called 'baby milk' when milking from a cow in the Kongu area in general.”

"Two of my favorite ladies are on stage. One Vanathi Srinivasan, another Nirmala Sitharaman.

In a recent poll, Nirmala Sitharaman was ranked 34th out of 100 Iron Ladies. As always, the upright woman is our finance minister; Nirmala Sitharaman is a woman who strengthens the hands of Prime Minister Modi, " he further added.

“Coimbatore would eventually become the iron fortress of the BJP.
