Vethalai Paaku plate at the Coimbatore District Collector’s office

A group of people approached the Coimbatore District Collector's office in a unique fashion. They came with a Vethalai Paaku plate to file a formal complaint against a real estate company that had misappropriated and tried to encroach the land provided by the government.


Coimbatore : More than 80 people had come to the Coimbatore District Collector's Office on behalf of the Arundhatiyar Munnetra Kazhagam to lodge a formal complaint. They came with Vethalai, Paaku, coconuts, and bananas in their hands and accused the real estate company of encroaching the land given to 31 Arundhatiyar families from Appanayakkanpatti village in Sulur.



Further, they requested that the authorities take appropriate action against the parties who tried to take advantage of them because of their illiteracy. This is not a scene one can witness every day at the District Collector’s office.
