Projects worth ₹145 crore has been initiated to connect 5 major roads in Coimbatore - Minister KN Nehru

Minister of Municipal Administration and Water Supply KN Nehru and Minister of Power Senthil Balaji today inaugurated 9 completed works worth ₹5.59 crore and 263 new projects worth ₹49.62 crore on behalf of the Department of Municipal Administration and Water Supply at the Coimbatore Municipal Corporation office.


Coimbatore: On behalf of the Department of Municipal Administration and Water Supply at the Coimbatore Corporation Office, 9 completed works worth ₹5.59 crore and 263 new projects worth ₹49.62 crore were inaugurated by the Minister of Municipal Administration KN Nehru and the Minister of Electricity Senthil Balaji yesterday.



Following this, the Ministers visited the one year achievement photo exhibition of the Government of Tamil Nadu set up at the Corporation office.



Speaking to reporters later, Minister Nehru said, “Various schemes worth Rs.24,000 crore have been introduced for corporations.

591 crore under ground sewerage project is to be introduced in Coimbatore.

Steps are being taken to implement the Billur drinking water project within a year. While some have said the Smart City project is slow, officials have been instructed to visit it and complete it as soon as possible.

Our Chief Minister has written a letter to the Chief Minister of Kerala stating that the water of the agreement signed during the artiste period regarding the Siruvani Dam has not been given yet. This letter has not yet been answered. Officials here will be sent and talks will be held to try to get water.

Those who have not completed their work in the corporation will be prosecuted. Accordingly, action will be taken against 7 contractors. Similarly, are there any irregularities in the Smart City project tasks? Officers have been appointed to investigate.

In addition, a project worth Rs. 145 crore has been launched to connect 5 major roads in Coimbatore. In addition, work is to be started to generate electricity from garbage in districts like Chennai, Coimbatore and Madurai. Separation of compostable and non-compostable waste at Vellaloor Garbage Depot in Coimbatore District and production of electricity from it and recycling activities will be carried out, "he said.



Later, Minister KN Nehru and Senthil Balaji inspected the Rs.67.86 crore Sirmigu town project in Valangulam.



In addition, a 24-hour drinking water supply scheme worth Rs.2.5 crore has been launched in the Revathi Nagar area, including the 41st ward of the Coimbatore Corporation West Zone.



The event was attended by government officials including Municipal Administration Secretary Sivadas Meena, Coimbatore District Collector Sameeran, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Rajagopal Sunkara, Coimbatore Corporation Mayor and Deputy Mayor.
