Decomposed body of youth recovered near Theppakulam in Coimbatore

The deceased Mujibur Malik (24) lived in a rented house on Lingappachetti Street, Theppakulam, Coimbatore and was found dead in a decomposed state.

Coimbatore: Gopal (51) who hails from Lingappachetti Street in Theppakulam, Coimbatore rented out the third floor of his house to Mujibur Malik (24). Mujibur had been living with four of his relatives since 2020 and were involved in embroidery work for garments including saris.

Owing to the pandemic lull in business, Mujibur reportedly had not paid rent for a long time. When Gopal called Mujibur on his phone to ask for the rent dues to be paid but did not receive any response, Gopal became suspicious.

On Tuesday night, Gopal went up to Mujibur's house on the third floor and realised that the house was open with no sight of anyone living there. He found the kitchen door locked and on breaking open the door, he was shocked to find Mujibur's body in a decomposed state. Gopal immediately informed the R S Puram police station.

R S Puram rushed to the spot to recover the decomposed body and sent it to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for autopsy. The police are conducting a serious investigation to ascertain if the cause of death was suicide or murder. They are also tracing the whereabouts of the relatives who lived with Mujibur.
