Private train service from Coimbatore to Shirdi to be launched soon for devotees

For the first time, a weekly private train service from Coimbatore to Shirdi will be launched soon, which has left Sai Baba devotees overjoyed.

Coimbatore: Much to the delight of Sai Baba devotees, a weekly train service from Coimbatore to Shirdi is to be inaugurated soon. This is the first privately-operated train from Coimbatore.

The Sai Baba Temple in Shirdi, Maharashtra is visited by millions of devotees from all over India, throughout the year. Trains to Shirdi also run from various states. However, there is no direct public transport from Coimbatore to Shirdi. From Coimbatore, one has to travel by air and train to other cities and then travel to Shirdi.

Shirdi has been given permission by the Railway Department to run private trains from five cities under Prime Minister Modi's 'Bharat Kaurav' scheme. In this, Coimbatore is also included. Hence, weekly trains will run from Coimbatore to Shirdi and from Shirdi to Coimbatore. This train is very useful for devotees from Andhra Pradesh also, to reach both temples of Shirdi and Mandiralaya.

Named the Sai Express, the privately-operated train is fully equipped with double-decker AC compartments. To the delight of Sai Baba devotees, high-quality vegetarian food, spiritual magazines, etc. are expected to be served on this train. Physicians and paramedics will be aboard the train to provide immediate treatment and assistance to the elderly, the disabled, and the sick. According to railway officials, the train service will be clean and of international standards.

The train which was scheduled to run from April 29 has now been reported as operational from May 15. However, railway officials said that no final decision has been taken as to when it will actually be operational.
