Coimbatore Rose Garden Friends Welfare Association holds special Ramadan prayers

In the Muslim-majority area of Ukkadam, a special prayer was attended by hundreds of people, both children and adults.

Coimbatore: Eid-ul-Fitr, also known as Ramadan is celebrated with great gusto by Muslims all across the world. Accordingly, the Chief Ghazi of the Tamil Nadu Government, Salahuddin Mohammad Ayub announced on Monday that Ramadan would be celebrated all over Tamil Nadu on May 3, following the appearance of the crescent on Monday evening.

Muslims all across the globe thus ended their 30-day fast of the holy month of Ramadan culminating in feasting and greeting each other with prayers and much fanfare. For the past two years, special prayers in mosques were cancelled due to the Covid pandemic and prayers were conducted in homes in a simple manner. But with a decline in the Covid cases, a special Eid prayer was held on Tuesday morning at all the mosques in Coimbatore to mark the festival.

Following this, on behalf of the Friends of the Rose Garden Welfare Association in the Muslim-majority Ukkadam area, a special prayer led by Mohammed Hussein was offered.

Special prayers for children and adults in the area, including GB Nasser, Imam Syed Ali Bhagwi, Railway Jameel and Ajaz. After the prayer, the Muslims hugged and greeted one another. This is usually followed by sharing 'biryani' and other delicacies cooked in their homes with the Muslim community and friends and neighbours of other religions as well.
