Coimbatore Mayor Kalpana kickstarts the building of an overhead water tank at Sudarshan Avenue

Mayor Kalpana Ananthakumar inaugurated the construction of an overhead drinking water tank worth Rs 2 crore as part of the Coimbatore 24-hour drinking water project.


Coimbatore: An overhead drinking water tank with a capacity of 20 lakh liters is to be constructed at Sudarshan Avenue under the 19th ward of Coimbatore Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore.



In areas under the Corporation of Coimbatore, work is underway for a 24-hour drinking water supply scheme. Accordingly, an overhead drinking water tank with a capacity of 20 lakh liters is to be constructed at Sudarshan Avenue under Ward 19, Coimbatore Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs 2 crore.

Mayor Kalpana Ananthakumar attended the ground breaking ceremony and inaugurated the project.



Drinking water was brought to this overhead drinking water tank through the Pillur 1 project and distributed to the public. It is to be noted that the public is to benefit from the 3221-links in the areas of Sudharshan Avenue, Aruna LayOut, Abirami Nagar, Lakshmi Garden, Kiruba House, Rocky Garden under the 12th and 19th Wards.

The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Sharmila, Deputy Mayor Vetrichelvan, DMK District Officer Piya R. Krishnan, Northern Regional Chairman Kathirvell and Anjugam Palaniappan among others.
