Vacancies in TamilNadu temples should be filled soon - TamilNadu Temple Employees Association

The general body meeting was attended by 47 senior temple staff from across Tamil Nadu.

Coimbatore: The TamilNadu Senior Temple Employees' Association has demanded that vacancies in temples across TamilNadu be filled.

The 12th State General Body Meeting of the Tamil Nadu Senior Temple Employees Association was held at Vadavalli. Perur Adheenam Santhalinga Marudachalam Adigalar was the special guest.

The general body meeting was attended by 47 senior temple staff from across Tamil Nadu including Madurai Meenakshi Amman Temple, Srirangam, Rameswaram and Thiruthani. The resolution was passed at this general body meeting to meet the key demands of the staff.

The resolution passed a number of demands, including the immediate filling of vacancies in temples across Tamil Nadu, the immediate appointment of trustees, and the withdrawal of the trustees' arbitrary amendment regarding the transfer of staff to temple staff.

The union president said he hoped this would bring the matter to the attention of the government and take action.

In addition, more than 5,000 employees worked in the senior temples. Currently there are 40% vacancies. Thus employees are working under extreme stress due to workload.

Only by filling the vacancies immediately can the schemes announced by the court and the Government of Tamil Nadu be properly implemented, and the Minister has now initiated a scheme to provide free offerings in the main temples.

But in many temples there are not enough staff and the staff is working in high workload environments. As a result, some employees are increasingly depressed and dying, executives said.
