Coimbatore:Volunteers and nature enthusiasts in Coimbatore cleaned the Marudhamalai area in Coimbatore on World Earth Day
On the occasion of World Earth Day, various awareness programmes are being conducted in Coimbatore on Friday. A total of 150 people, including forest department staff and student volunteers of Eachanari Rathinam College NSS and Nature Club cleared off the plastic wastes in Coimbatore forest division, Boluvampatti forest range and Maruthamalai route, hill foothills and other areas.
The volunteers cleared upto 2.5 tonnes of plastic waste in a single day in different batches since morning. They also planted saplings at the site where plastic waste was removed.
