Anti-poaching guard dies in Valparai while chasing elephant

An anti-poaching guard who was engaged in chasing the lone wild elephant back into the forest during patrol died after falling down and suffering a mild chest pain.


Valparai:An anti-poaching guard died in valparai while chasing an elephant back into the forest as he fell down.

During a routine patrolling, the anti-poaching guards tried to chase away the female elephant, which was roaming alone in Mandaramattam area of Manampalli near Valparai, into the forest area. Ravichandran, 46, an anti-poaching guard, fell down and sustained injuries.

Reportedly he suffered chest pain and was taken to Valparai government hospital, however the doctors declared him dead. The forest department has taken steps to provide compensation to Ravichandran's family, who is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
