Woman arrested under POCSO Act in Coimbatore

The 28-year-old woman has been arrested under the POCSO Act for allegedly releasing a photograph of the wife and daughter of her lover with obscene and abusive comments.


Coimbatore: A 28-year-old woman has been arrested under the POCSO Act in Coimbatore for posting a photograph of a Coimbatore-based man's wife and daughter on social media with obscene comments.

Umarani (28), a native of Nadhakadayanur in Tirupur was reportedly in love with a man from Kavundampalayam in Coimbatore. Umarani reportedly posted a picture of her lover's wife and young daughter on social media with derogatory comments. Following this, the victim who is a 35-year-old woman lodged a complaint with the District Cyber Police.

Based on the complaint, the police interrogated Uma Rani and booked her under the POCSO and IT Act, and arrested her.
