Coimbatore: A ration shop is all set to be opened for public use in a new building with toilet facility, in Cheranmanagar area.
The PDS shop is located in a residential area for officers and employees of the State Transport Corporation, on Vilankurichi Road. There are 568 separate houses under three categories A, B and C. The residents of Cheranmanagar are presently getting their supplies every month from the PDS shop which is functioning in a small building near the second bus stop.
With expectations from residents for a ration shop to be set up in a new building due to lack of space and security in the current shop, the construction work for setting up the shop at a cost of Rs. 18 lakh near the first bus stop has been completed and is now ready for inauguration.
The 22nd Ward Councillor, Kovai Babu stated that the construction of the new PDS shop had been completed and will soon be opened for public use by a Minister and VIPs. "There is a lot of space available in this fair price shop. Besides, a toilet facility has also been set up. Therefore, the ration shop to be functioning in the new building will be of great benefit to people who come to buy goods," added Kovai Babu.
