Madurai youth arrested for illegal sale of ganja in Somanur, Coimbatore; 25.650 kg ganja, two-wheeler seized

The city police who conducted a surprise check at Somanur Noyyal bridge area within Karumathampatti police limits caught hold of a young man upon suspicions and on checking him, the police found him possessing contrabands about 25 kg. He has been arrested and lodged in prison


Coimbatore: A 33-year-old Madurai based man has been arrested for carrying ganja with him in Somanur

An Anti-ganja hunt 2.0 is being held in the state on the orders of DGP Sylendra Babu. As part of this, as per the instructions of Ig (West Zone) Sudhakar in Coimbatore district, a special squad under the supervision of district SP Badri Narayanan has been formed to keep a close watch on those involved in the sale of ganja.

The special squad led by inspector Rajadurai conducted a raid near Somanur Noyyal bridge under Karumathampatti police station in Coimbatore. A young man was caught and interrogated on suspicion. His contradictory answers led the police to examine him, and it was found that he was in possession of a huge amount of ganja.

The youth arrested is identified as Murugasamy (33), son of Paraman, a native of Madurai district, who was carrying ganja for retail sale. The police arrested him and seized 25,650 kg of ganja and a two-wheeler from his possession. He was produced before the court and lodged in prison for possession of Ganja for illegal sale.



The swift action of the police called in immense appreciation from the senior police officers. The District SP has warned that strict action will be taken against those selling ganja and drugs in Coimbatore district. They have also provided control room numbers - 94981-81212 and WhatsApp - 77081-00100 so that the public can inform about those indulging in illegal activities.
