PDS employees association holds attention grabbing meet in Coimbatore

The Coimbatore Regional Association of Tamilnadu government ration shops employees held an attention grabbing meet at Tatabad requesting the government to declare the distribution department as a separate department.


Coimbatore: The PDS employees association of Coimbatore conevened for an attention seeking meeting at Coimbatore.

The meeting, which was presided over by District In-charge Babu, was attended by K. Balasubramaniam, special president of the Tamil Nadu Government Fair Price Shop Employees Association, who delivered the keynote address.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister had announced that the Public Distribution Department, which is managed by various departments, would function under one department. He demanded that the notification be implemented and declared as a separate department instead of a department.

If it is announced, the project is likely to become a special project in India, he said. He also called for setting up of a sales terminal, POSand demanded improving internet services by providing a modem

Among the key resolutions of the meeting were a separate department for ration shops, payment of 17 per cent dearness allowance given to government employees to fair price shop employees, and distribution of ration in the right quantity and at the right weight.

The meeting was attended by a number of employees from Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Nilgiris, Erode and other districts.
