Coimbatore: Ex AIADMK MLA is under interrogation in Coimbatore.

Former AIADMK MLA Aarukutty is being questioned in connection with the Kodanad murder and dacoity case at the police training school premises under the leadership of IG (West Zone) Sudhakar.

The Kodanad Estate near Kotagiri was the rest house for former CM JJayalalitha. Post her death in 2017, a gang had murdered Om Bahadur, who worked as a watchman at the estate and stole the goods from there. While the Nilgiris police department was investigating the case, Kanagaraj, Jayalalitha's driver was found involved in the case, but he died in a road accident in Athur, Salem

The police arrested 10 people, including Sayan and Manoj, who had arranged for Kanagaraj to steal from the Kodanad house. While investigations were held on Kanagaraj, it was revealed that he worked as the driver for MLA Arukutty who was the then MLA from Koundampalayam, after he was sacked from his job.

Five special squads have been formed under the West Zone Police Chief Sudhakar to probe the Kodanad murder and dacoity case. These special squads are camping at various places including Coimbatore and the Nilgiris and are conducting separate investigations. The Special Task Force officials led by Nilgiris District SP Ashish Rawat have been summoning key persons involved in the case and are interrogating them.

Prominent executives, including Vivek Jayaraman, one of the directors of Jaya TV, have already been summoned to Coimbatore for questioning. Accordingly, the ex MLA Arukutty has been summoned to the Police training school in Coimbatore, and the investigation is still underway.

The relationship between Arukutty and Kanagaraj, while he worked for the MLA and after, their phone conversations before the Kodanad incident are being questioned about. Various information is expected to be ousted at the end of the investigation. Police officials, including West Zone police chief Sudhakar and Nilgiris district SP Ashish Rawat, are investigating. It is to be noted that an inquiry has already been conducted in connection with the case at Salem Attur police station.
