Coimbatore: Sudden showers in Coimbatore for the past three days have refreshed locals who were reeling under the intense summer heat.

The impact of the heat wave this summer in Coimbatore has troubled the public at large, especially daily commuters, school children and those who step out for work. However, the subtle weather change in the city owing to showers came as a relief to the people in the city. Cloudy weather prevailed int he city for the past three days followed by slight downpours in different areas of Coimbatore.

According to a weather forecast issued on Monday, widespread rainfall is expected in the Western Ghats, due to convection.



An overcast sky and cold winds since Tuesday morning gave way to thundershowers in many parts of the city.



Several areas including Ganapathi, Gandhipuram, Collector's Office, Ukkadam, Kuniyamuthur, Singanallur, VIP Quarters, Avinashi Road, Vadavalli, Mettupalayam Road, Saibaba Colony, Rathinapuri and Saravanampatti are witnessing thunderstorms.



Though the thunderstorms caught people unawares leaving them drenched, it elated both the public and the farmers in Coimbatore.
