HC judges conduct inspections in Coimbatore on increased elephant deaths due to train accidents

Coimbatore: With the increased elephant deaths due to train accidents in Coimbatore, the issue raised an alarming call for solutions and the High Court judges from Chennai conducted inspections here.



Justices Subramanian, Satish Kumar and Ilanthiraiyan of the Madras High Court are conducting an in-person inspection to probe the death of elephants in Coimbatore.

The elephant death in Coimbatore has increased and the Madras High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the matter.



A bench of Justices Bharathidasan and Satheesh Kumar, are hearing the case, while an inspection is being held at the Coimbatore-Palakkad railway road by three judges, Subramanian, Satish Kumar and Ilanthiraiyan.



Talks are being held with the forest department and Palakkad railway officials, including the chief conservator of forests of Tamil Nadu.



The judges inspected all the six places between Madukkarai and Walayar where elephant deaths were frequent.



Following this, a team of judges is conducting an inspection near Walayar railway station, seeking an explanation from the railway officials.
