Funds of Rs.140 crores allocated to renovate 16 dilapidated roads in Coimbatore

A total of Rs.140 crore has been allocated for the renovation and restoration of 16 damaged roads in Coimbatore, with the work expected to begin in the week ahead.


Coimbatore: Funds have been allocated for the renovation of 16 major roads in the city that are dilapidated. With all the major roads in Coimbatore in a state of disrepair, a total of Rs.140 crore has been allocated for the restoration of the state highway roads in the coming week.

The work of construction of roads and bridges in Coimbatore Corporation, and restoration of the roads that had been opened for laying of underground sewerage water pipelines is in full swing. However, this has also caused traffic congestion since these roads are mostly used by the public for commuting.

An official said that at present, road repairs and road alignment activities are in progress in many areas. "As part of this, a sum of Rs.140 crore has been allocated for the restoration of 16 dilapidated roads in Coimbatore Corporation and the work will commence in the coming weeks," added the official.
