Two youth arrested in Coimbatore for threatening college girl and damaging vehicles owned by family

One of the youth was the erstwhile lover of the college girl who had been threatening to kill her if she did not marry him.

Coimbatore: The city police arrested two youth including the erstwhile lover of a college girl for threatening to kill her over a love relationship that had gone sour.

Ajith (25), a native of PK Pudur lured a college girl residing in Pichanur by introducing himself as a college student. The duo got into a love relationship over the past two years. But on discovering that Ajith was actually a daily wage labourer and finding his behavior increasingly unappealing, the girl began avoiding him.

Upset over the turn of events, Ajith reportedly met the girl near her usual Ettimadai bus stop from where she travelled to college and questioned her reasons for leaving him. Refusing to listen to reason, Ajith ended up verbally abusing her in public and intimidated the girl saying that she had to get back into a relationship with him or commit suicide. He further threatened to kill her if she did not oblige.

The girl student confided in her father about the scenario she was caught in and the parents immediately lodged a complaint at the KG Chavadi police station. The police contacted Ajith on his mobile phone and asked him to report to the police station. Enraged by this, Ajith reportedly took his friend Mano (22), a college student and barged into the girl's house. They damaged the motorcycle and car belonging to her family. Neighbours who witnessed the chaos informed the student's father who was at the police station. The police immediately rushed to the spot but the duo had fled from the house.

Following this, the police registered a case against Ajith for assault and issuing death threats, along with using abusive language. The police then traced Ajith and Mano's whereabouts. While Ajith managed to flee, Mano was nabbed and lodged in jail. The police later managed to arrest Ajith as well. It is reported that Ajith already has three pending cases against him, including ganja possession.
