54 Commonwealth countries extend support to Isha Founder Sadhguru's 'Save Soil Movement'

Sadhguru is presently on a 100-day motorcycle trip travelling 30,000 km across 27 countries to create awareness in the world about soil conservation.



Coimbatore: 54 Commonwealth Countries have extended support even as Sadhguru, the Founder of Isha has undertaken a 100-day motorcycle ride, travelling 30,000 km across 27 countries to create awareness in the world about soil conservation through the 'Save Soil Movement.'



The Commonwealth which has 54 member representatives each from a country has extended its support to Sadhguru's 'Save The Soil' movement which has been attracting global attention. "The objective of the Soil Conservation Mission to restore soil fertility and protect the environment is in full agreement with the recommendations of the Commonwealth of Nations," stated the Commonwealth General Secretary's Office in a statement. "Our land and soil are being greatly affected by climate change, soil degradation and biodiversity.

Therefore, there is a need for cooperation, continuous commitment and collective action of diverse people in protecting and managing our natural resources," elaborated the statement.

Sadhguru has launched the Save Soil Movement, urging the world to enact necessary laws to protect soil fertility. The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), United Nations Environment Program, (UNEP), the World Food Organization (WFP) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) have already expressed support to the Save Soil Movement.

The Movement has been gaining support from political leaders, business fraternity, different sects of society, environment and culture, sportspersons and artists including cricket legend Vivian Richards, Chris Gayle, Bravo brothers, Bollywood celebrities like Kangana Ranaut, Ajay Devagan, Juhi Chawla, actor Santhanam, lyricist Pa Vijay and many others.



Sadhguru embarked on the 100-day motorcycle ride from London on March 21 and is travelling across 27 countries in the European continent as well as the Middle East. He will complete his journey with the cause in Tamil Nadu.
