Coimbatore: The forest officials are shocked to find yet another dead elephant in the Sirumugai forest range, while they were patrolling the area on Thursday, 31st March.
A female elephant has been found dead by the forest officers in Sirumugai dense forest region. The forest ranger and forest staff of Sirumugai forest range patrolled the dense forest area of Pethikuttai in Sirumugai range in Coimbatore on Thursday evening, only to find the body of the female elephant in a decomposed state.
The district forest officer and veterinary officer were informed about this yet another horrifying incident. Elephant deaths have increased in Coimbatore, in the last three months. A few days ago, a female elephant was found dead in Bhavani catchment area of Sirumugai forest area and another was found decomposed inside the dense forest area.
Coimbatore District Forest Officer, Sirumugai Range Forest Staff and District Veterinary Officer Sukumar and Assistant Veterinary Doctor Thiagarajan will conduct an autopsy on the elephant in the presence of volunteers on 1st of April.
