Budget Coimbatore; Demands for additional safety equipment for sanitation workers

The Budget discussion meeting for Coimbatore was held on Wednesday evening, 30th March, after the financial budget presentation in Coimbatore, and the DMK councillors have put forth various demands.


Coimbatore: The Budget discussion meeting for fiscal 2022-23 for Coimbatore was held on Wednesday, 30th March.

The Coimbatore Corporation Mayor, Kalpana Anadakumar presented the financial budget 2022 for Coimbatore Corporation on 30th March.



A discussion meeting on the budget was held in the evening. In the first budget meeting, the DMK councillors put forth their demands. The budget was presented as a deficit budget of Rs.19 crore.

The CPM councillor from ward 12, Ramamurthy acknowledging the budget welcoming various aspects of the budget, said the funds allocated for education and roads would not be adequate and demanded more funds are allocated. He also urged that additional safety equipment should be provided to the sanitation workers.



Besides, he urged the Corporation to set up small offices for all the 100 councillors in the corporation.

The ward 72 DMK Councillor Karthik Selvaraj questioned, if there is a proposal in the Corporation budget to levy garbage tax and parking tax in the Race Course area, for which the CCMC Commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara explained that the rules of inclusion list of the Corporation state they should be taxed and it will be implemented on the basis of the recommendations of the health committee.

Karthik Selvaraj urged that parking charges, garbage tax should be levied in a manner the public is not affected. Following this, a unanimous resolution was passed welcoming the budget.

All the three AIADMK councillors boycotted the event. DMK councillors and DMK alliance councillors participated in the discussion and praised the budget.
