Boy attempting to save lamb drowns to death in Coimbatore

A school boy drowned while trying to save a lamb from falling into a well in a private estate in Uppukandy, K.G. Chavadi in Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: A school boy drowned while trying to save a lamb from falling into a well in a private estate in Uppukandy, K.G. Chavadi in Coimbatore.

A schoolboy, unfortunately, drowned to death while trying to save a lamb from a well. Ayyappan was from Ayyampathi Chinnayya Goundanpudur hill village next to KG Chavadi in Coimbatore. He has two sons Karthik (16) and Manikandan (14). Ayyappan died a few years ago and his mother Rajeshwari is raising her two sons. Karthik was studying 10th grade in a government school.

Reportedly Karthik and Manikandan had been rearing goat at KG Chavadi near Aruchamy Gounder Estate in Uppukandy yesterday, 26th March, and a goat had fallen into the well. The brothers jumped into the well to rescue the animal but unfortunately, Karthik drowned.

Manikandan came out and informed the people present.



The locals then jumped into the well and recovered Karthik Kumar's body.



The KG Chavadi police, who rushed to the spot, and sent Karthik's body to the Coimbatore government hospital for post mortem.

A case has also been registered in connection with the incident and an investigation is underway.
