Mass strike on 28, 29 in Coimbatore; 40 crores to participate across country, states Industrial sector

The Trade Unions have stated that about 40 crore people across India will participate in the mass strike against the Central Government on March 28 and 29.



Coimbatore: The Trade unions have announced to hold a mass strike on the 28th and 29th of March, condemning privatization and anti-labor laws. About, 40 crores are set to participate in the strike, the trade unions stated.

The unions have called for a nationwide strike on March 28 and 29 to protest against the central government. The trade union federation met the press and Arumugam, the convenor said that the Modi government should stop the sale of public sector property and cartilage of 44 labor welfare laws into 4, condemning the anti-labor laws.



Arumugam said that a road roko will be held on 28th of March at Gandhi Statue, Main bus depots, central post offices in 10 assembly constituencies of Coimbatore South, Pollachi, Valparai, Koundampalayam, Mettupalayam, Sulur, Coimbatore North, Singanallur, Kinathukadavu, and Thondamuthur. Demonstrations will be held at multiple locations on the 29th

He pressed that the strike will emphasize that the country is not for sale condemning the central government's decision to give away insurance departments, railways and defence departments to corporates. Adding that the protest will be held successfully in Coimbatore, he said that the factories will be shut down, auto-rickshaws, buses will not ply.

Calling out the public in rural areas, he said there will be no public movement on strike day.

Arumugam also mentioned that Government employees will participate, however there will be losses in crores of rupees.

"Last time, 24 crore people participated. This time, 400 million people have expressed willingness to participate in the strike", he said.
