Coimbatore SIHS Colony Bridge case adjourned to 25th March

The High Court has adjourned the hearing of the case of SIHS Colony flyover case to March 25 as the Tamil Nadu advocate could not appear for the case

Coimbatore: The High Court has adjourned the hearing of the case of SIHS Colony flyover case to March 25 as the Tamil Nadu advocate could not appear for the case

The construction of a high-level bridge across the SIHS Colony railway track in Coimbatore was inaugurated in 2013. As the state highways department started the work without acquiring land for the construction of the bridge, the landlords filed a case in the court challenging the construction of the high-level bridge.

Due to this, the construction of the bridge was stopped midway. The DMK has now expedited the construction of the bridge and they took it to the Highways.

The highways department says interest can only be paid on the value of the land acquired and the government will incur losses if the interest on the compensation amount is paid. So an appeal was filed in the High Court by the highways department. An investigation into this was held yesterday, 23rd March. The hearing has been postponed as the Tamil Nadu lawyers could not appear in the case. The high court has also adjourned the case to March 25.
