Traditional dance and music adds fervour to anti-plastic campaign on International Forest Day celebrations in Pollachi

World Forest Day is celebrated every year in the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve. On the occasion of international Forest Day, an awareness campaign was hosted at the Aliyar Forest Department check post in Pollachi forest range yesterday, 21st March, where manjapais were hanged to encourage its usage as an alternative to plastic bags. The school girls then planted saplings near Kaviyaruvi.

Similarly, on the occasion of World Forest Day, the tribals of Kozhikode near Topslip sang their traditional songs and danced.



Students of government and private schools participated in the event and danced with the tribals.

Anamalai Tiger Reserve Deputy Director Ganesan, Forest Assistant Conservator Selvam, Forest Ranger Kasilingam, Foresters Prabhakaran, Sabareeswaran and forest department staff, school students and teachers were present on the occasion.
