Coimbatore: The PCR test revealed that the elephant that died in the Coimbatore Mankarai forest has no anthrax infection.

The body of a 30-year-old male elephant was found two days ago in the Mangarai forest in Coimbatore. Subsequently, a team of veterinarians conducted an inspection there.

The appearance of worms in the elephant's abdomen then raised suspicions of an anthrax-like infection. Following this, samples of the dead elephant were sent to the Chennai Veterinary University for PCR examination.
