The City police have launched a search for four people who tried to abduct land worth Rs 50 lakhs in the name of a deceased person.


Coimbatore: The City police have launched a search for four people who tried to abduct land worth Rs 50 lakhs in the name of a deceased person.

A complaint was lodged with the District SP against four people, who tried to abduct land worth Rs 50 lakhs, using impersonation. Sisters Saraswati and Manoranjitham in Kaveri nagar in Pattanam next to Sulur own land of 10 cents, worth 50 lakh rupees, that was inherited by them after their father's death in 2007. Reportedly, a gang trying to abduct the land, arranged for fake bond registration by forging another person named Ayyasamy. He was produced before Singanallur Sub Registrar Raja and a sale deed was registered on March 11.

However, the sub-registrar suspended the issuance of the deed, on learning that Ayyasamy was actually dead, and subsequently, Saraswathi and Manoranjitham, the legal heirs of the land, submitted evidence that their father Ayyasamy had died in 2007.

A complaint was lodged with the SP on the Arulraj of Erode who bought the land, Ramakrishnan of Avinashi Velayuthampalayam who was the witness, and Joseph Jayaseelan of Nagamalai, Madurai.Police Inspector Meenapriya of Coimbatore anti-land grabbing unit, who conducted the investigation registered a case against the four and have launched a search for them.
