Tahsildar fined of Rs.12,000 for ignorance of work in Rasipuram

The District Consumer Court judge imposed a fine of Rs.12,000 to the Tahsildar who failed to take measures to survey the land of a man, despite his petition to the Tahsildar.

Coimbatore: The District Consumer Court judge imposed a fine of Rs.12,000 on the Tahsildar who failed to take measures to survey the land of a man, despite his petition to the Tahsildar.

Shekhar petitioned the Rasipuram Tahsildar requesting him to survey his plot and paid Rs.100 at the State Bank of India. However, the Tahsildar did not take any steps to measure the plot, nor was any action taken despite Shekhar complaining with the District Collector. Thus, Shekhar went on to file a petition at the district consumer court and order the survey of the plot, demanding a compensation of Rs.1 lakh.

Appearing in the case, Tahsildar said that two persons objected to the survey of the plot and hence he left the petition unattended. The judge, hearing the case stated that the Tahsildar was clearly ignorant of his work and had committed a lack of service. He sentenced that the Tahsildar should measure Shekhar's land within 15 days and pay Rs.10,000/- as compensation and Rs.2000/- as expenses incurred.
