Teenager electrocuted to death in Coimbatore after coming into contact with high-pressure wire

A 17-year-old boy was electrocuted to death after he came into contact with a high pressure live electric wire during work accidentally, and the Perur police are investigating the business owner the boy worked for, for unsafe work practices


Coimbatore:A 17-year-old boy was electrocuted to death after he came into contact with a high-pressure live electric wire during work accidentally.

A 17-year-old boy was killed in Coimbatore due to electrocution. The boy reportedly came into contact with a live wire causing a tragic death.

The eldest son of the two children of Karupiah, who belongs to Perur had been working as an assistant in a private company in Pudhur, Coimbatore for the past six months. The boy was on duty at Ramachettipalayam School Street yesterday, 9th March, where he allegedly lifted an iron rod. The rod contacted the live wires above. In the impact, the boy was thrown away due to electric shock and he collapsed thereafter.

The residents rescued him and sent him to Coimbatore government hospital for treatment. But the doctors who examined him said he died on the way. His body was then sent to the Anatomical Research Centre for post mortem.

Based on a complaint lodged at Karupiah at the Perur police station, police have registered a case against the owner of a private company, Fazil Rahman, who made him work without safety equipment.
