The District Police Department of Coimbatore has been the swiftest to respond to the distress calls raised by the public taking just 2.59 minutes of their time to respond and reach the spot.
Coimbatore: The District Police Department of Coimbatore has been the swiftest to respond to the distress calls raised by the public, in the study done across the state.
The Coimbatore City police have been the fastest to respond to a distress call made by an individual and necessary action after that. The Coimbatore City Police Commissioner, Pradip Kumar stated that there are 15 police stations and 24 patrol vehicles on round-the-clock surveillance.
“In case of any unusual incident, public contact the police control room on 100, and this will be forwarded to the respective patrolling squad in the area. The police will also rush to the spot immediately.”
The public’s distress calls are taken by the state master police control room and then the record is sent to the respective police department, city or rural. The time taken for the patrol squad to reach the spot of distress after getting the information from the control room is recorded. Accordingly, patrol vehicles from Coimbatore city reached the spot in 2 minutes and 59 seconds, outdoing the other police departments at the state level.
The Karur police stand 2nd with a record of 3 minutes and 12 seconds and Thoothukudi City Police was ranked 3rd with 3 minutes and 17 seconds. The top-ranked Coimbatore city police have also been felicitated.
Commissioner Pradip Kumar stated that the patrol vehicles in the city has been fitted with GPS trackers and the locations are monitored from the control room round the clock. The locations are tracked when a call is received and the nearest patrol vehicle will reach the spot.
“Accident deaths in Coimbatore have increased over the past two months. Serious action is being taken to control this. Traffic congestion is due to various reasons including flyover works.”
“The flyover works at Trichy Road, Sungam and Mettupalayam Road, Koundampalayam have been completed and traffic congestion will be reduced further when these flyover are brought into use.”
