Three tier police security deployed at Government College of Technology's strong room in Coimbatore

The government College of Technology, which serves as the vote counting centre for Coimbatore for the urban local body elections has been secured with three tier security police force


Coimbatore: The Government College of Technology has been protected with three tier security, as the electronic voting machines are placed.

The urban local body elections that ended on 19th of February, will have the counting on 22nd, Tuesday. The E voting Machines were taken to the Government College of Technology, GCT, where the ballot boxes of one corporation has been placed. Owing to this, a three tier security has been deployed at the centre

Urban local body elections was held for one corporation, 7 municipalities and 33 town panchayats in Coimbatore district on 19th, Saturday,and 3,366 candidates contested for 802 posts. In this election, 2303 polling stations were set up. Of these, 424 polling stations were found to be tense.

Additional surveillance was put in place at tense polling stations, with CCTV cameras installed for a live surveillance. Certain polling booths looked tense as public were not permitted to vote between 5 to 6 pm-check

The E voting machines were then sealed and dispatched to the vote counting centres with police protection. The ballot box for 100 wards of 1 corporation has been placed at GCT and the boxes were safe kept at the rooms and sealed on Sunday.



Three tiers of police personnel have been deployed and CCTV is installed all over the premises. The vote counting will begin by 7 am on the 22nd of February
