Man attacked for refusing money for liquor in Coimbatore; police launch search for gang of 4

The City police are on the hunt for a gang of four people who allegedly attacked and robbed a man of money, an ATM Card, and his mobile phone after he refused to offer them money to buy alcohol.


Coimbatore: The city police are on the hunt for a gang of four people who allegedly attacked and robbed a man of money, an ATM Card, and his mobile phone after he refused to offer them money to buy alcohol. Manisekar, 30 was attacked by four people after he refused to give them money for buying alcohol.

The gang snatched Rs.18,500, a mobile phone, and Manisekar’s ATM Card and fled from the place leaving Manisekar in a pool of blood.

Manisekar, son of Raja of Marappa Boyar Road in Sunadrapuram had been working as a building mason for a company in the Maldives for the past two years and returned to Coimbatore six months ago. He is now working with Kathiresan. Manisekar accompanied Kathiresan to work as usual, and when they crossed the TASMAC Bar on the market road, Madukkarai, reportedly, Kathiresan stopped to talk to his friend Natarajan there.

Kathiresan demanded Rs 300 for alcohol and bought Rs.500. As Mani kept back the remaining 200 in his pocket, four of Nagarajan's friends noticed Mani carrying more cash with him, insisted on giving them more. Mani was brutally attacked for refusing to offer money, in the dispute and they snatched 18,500 cash, his cell phone, and ATM card.

The injured Manisekar was rescued by the public nearby and admitted to Coimbatore government hospital for treatment. On being informed about this, the Podanur police have registered a case and are searching for four persons including Nagaraj.
