Pollachi: The e-voting machines, along with the necessary election process equipment were transported to the 89 polling booths in Pollachi on Friday with police protection.

The e-voting machines were transported to the polling stations in Pollachi ahead of the urban local polls that will be held on 19th, tomorrow. A total of 151 candidates are contesting in 36 wards of Pollachi municipality in Coimbatore and 89 polling booths have been set up in 36 wards here.

A total of 107 EVMs, 89 machines for polling and 17 in case of an emergency were sent to 89 polling stations in Pollachi. A zonal officer along with police officers escorted the equipment to each booth.



The items required for the elections loaded into a tempo traveller were safely transported to the respective polling booths on Friday.

Out of the 89 wards in Pollachi municipality, 49 wards have been declared vulnerable polling stations and surveillance cameras and armed police will be on guard at the polling stations. The election official said 428 returning officers and 250 police personnel would be deployed for security work for the election.
