Romanian Citizen who took part in political campaigns for DMK party in Coimbatore: served notice for Visa Violation by the Bureau of Immigration (MHA) Govt. of India

Impressed by the DMK government's scheme of free bus travel for women, the Romanian Citizen, Stefan expressed his willingness to take part in the ongoing campaign in support of the DMK party in the local body polls.


Coimbatore: With last leg of campaigning ongoing at full swing in Coimbatore for the local body elections to be held on February 19, 2022, a Romanian Citizen garnered public attention by taking part in the campaign for the "Rising Sun "symbol of the DMK party.

Impressed by the DMK government's scheme of free bus travel for women, the Romanian Citizen, Stefan who came to know about the scheme through his friend Dr. Gokul, expressed his willingness to take part in the ongoing campaign in support of the DMK party in the local body polls.



In no time, Stefan became a sensation in the city, as he was seen holding placards of DMK party and distributing pamphlets to the public in Singanallur area along with the party cadres.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Immigration (MHA) Govt. of India has issued a notice to the Romanian Citizen citing Visa violation.

"It has come to notice that you, Mr. Negoita Stefan Marius, Romanian National holding (PPT.No.xxxx and Business Visa (E-Visa) No: xxxx valid till 20.01.2023,have involved in activities (political/election campaign) which is not as per your intended purpose of visit and it amounts to visa violation.

Hence, you are directed to appear in person to this office (Bureau of Immigration, Shasthri Bhavan Annexe, Hadows road, Chennai-6) on 18.02.2022 (AN) along with your original documents and explanation.

Any non-compliance of above directions will render you liable for prosecution under section 14 of the Foreigners Act, 1946", as quoted in the notice.
