Coimbatore: The Former AIADMK Minister SP Velumani campaigned through a recorded video rallying support for the AIADMK candidates in Coimbatore.

With the urban local body elections approaching, various parties and independent candidates are campaigning vigorously. Since today is the last day, the campaign in the Coimbatore district has intensified.

AIADMK former minister S P Velumani has released a propaganda video urging the public to vote for the AIADMK regularly in the upcoming urban local body elections. He stated that the elections this time has been out of the ordinary with outstation people rallying support for candidates in Coimbatore in a larger number. He stated that the campaigners are indulging in various violations of the election code and illegal activities.

Velumani said that the bad image the police had among the public was transformed into a respectful image by the AIADMK during its ten-year tenure. He said that the situation has now turned worse, and police are forced to arrest those informing about the violators. “The trend has posed a major threat to the development of the country and the security of the people in a democratic country and an environment of security. There is also a suspicion among the public whether the Election Commission, which is supposed to act with integrity, is also behaving the same way.”

Velumani highlighted that there is no proper information about the violations that have taken place so far, including the distribution of anklets for votes in the city and how many people, have been arrested for further abuse. He requested that the election should be conducted safely by deploying the Central Paramilitary Forces for security and action should be taken to protect the security of the people and the sovereignty of the country for the ongoing urban local body elections.
