Public in Avinashi place flex banner listing VAO's alleged bribery

The banner was removed within hours of being placed.


Coimbatore: A flex banner near Avinashi alleging that a Village Administration Officer (VAO) was demanding bribes for various certificates was put up by the public.

The banner alleged that the Tirupur District Avinashi Circle Sembianallur VAO, Latha was receiving bribes to sign the recommendation for certificates. It stated that she had been collecting Rs.5000 for Patta Chitta, Rs.2000 for death certificate, Rs.1000 for Adangal, Rs. 5000 for heir certificate, Rs.3000 for income certificate, Rs.5000 for a marriage registration certificate, Rs.1000 for proof of residence and Rs.4000 for birth certificate.

The flex banner was removed within hours of being placed. When asked to respond to the allegations of bribery, VAO Latha said, "They have put up a banner like this with the intention of discrediting me. This is in arrogance, to force the Government to survey the privately-owned land and hand over the land to the Government."
