Urban Local Body Polls 2022: 'Ward 52 will be an example for all wards in Coimbatore if we win the elections' vows DMK's Lakshmi Karthik

The DMK candidate Lakshmi Karthik stated that Ward 52 will become an example for the rest of the Wards in the city, with improved infrastructure and development.

Coimbatore: Lakshmi Ilanselvi Karthik, the DMK candidate contesting from Ward Number 52 in the urban local body polls to be held on February 19 has intensified her campaign.

“Ward 52 will be a model for other areas in terms of development if we win the election,” assured Lakshmi Ilanselvi Karthik of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance who is engaged in a fiery campaign. She campaigned in Periyar Nagar, Nedunchezhiyan Nagar, Parameswaran Layout and Krishna Nagar in Ward 52 on Thursday, and met residents in the area to hear their grievances.

Thereafter she heard the demands of the sanitation workers, such as proper garbage disposal facilities and assured them of immediate action. During her campaign, Lakshmi herself cleaned the area with a broomstick that she took from the sanitary workers there. Locals lauded her humble action.

Lakshmi also assured the locals of Ward 52 of immediate working measures and implementation of developmental schemes such as basic amenities, road construction and park development in Ward 52, if she wins the elections.

"I have already implemented developmental works at an estimated cost of Rs.18 crore in the area when we were council members. Similarly, my husband, former MLA N Karthik has also made various development projects for the area when he was Deputy Mayor. In particular, Fun Mall and the Anna Nagar Poject Road was constructed during that period,” reiterated Lakshmi Karthik.

"Once we gain victory in the local polls, a link road to Balan Nagar-Periyar Nagar will be constructed and the long due underground sewerage facilities will also be provided. I wish to convert Ward 52 into a model ward for Coimbatore Corporation. I also assured that additional sanitary workers will be deployed in Ward 52 and daily garbage will be removed," added Lakshmi Karthik. This brought joy to the sanitation workers in the area who felt that it would greatly reduce their workload.

During the election campaign, the Peelamedu area Corporation-I In-charge, V Balasubramaniyam, M Ravi Singai Prabhakaran, Chinnamani, Women's Wing and allied party functionaries were present.
