NEET ban issue; Students Federation of India stage protest in Coimbatore tearing TN Governor’s picture

The SFI staged protest in the city after the NEET bill was sent back by the Tamil Nadu Governor, in which the Chief Minister and the ruling government had pushed for a ban on NEET in Tamil Nadu


Coimbatore: Students Federation of India (SFI), stage protest as NEET cancellation Bill is rejected by the Governor, R N Ravi.

Activists, political outfits and organizations in Tamil Nadu, including the Students Federation of India are constantly agitating for the exemption of Tamil Nadu from NEET.

Five months ago, the DMK-led Government NEET Exemption Bill was tabled and passed unanimously in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. It was subsequently sent to the Governor of Tamil Nadu for approval. But no action was taken on the bill for the past five months. Tamil Nadu Governor Ravi has recently returned the NEET Bill to the Government of Tamil Nadu.



The Students Federation of India stormed the Collectorate in Coimbatore and attempted to protest against the actions of the Governor of Tamil Nadu.This was followed by chanting slogans condemning the Tamil Nadu governor's move and urging the union government to immediately withdraw Tamil Nadu, Governor R N Ravi.

Following this, they accused Governor R N Ravi of committing a major betrayal to the students of Tamil Nadu and tore up the portrait of Tamil Nadu Governor Ravi. This caused a stir in front of the Collectorate for some time.

More than 20 executives, including V Mariappan, state secretary of the SFI, and Dinesh Raja, district secretary, were arrested.
