The independent candidate, Sakthivel, 45, who is contesting in Coimbatore South Zone 94 ward, filed his nomination at the Kuniyamuttur regional office wearing a PPE suit.
The candidate stated that he aimed at creating awareness on the rising covid incidence, which the officers and the public appreciated.
Reportedly, Sakthivel is also an ardent philanthropist who was involved in doing various services during the pandemic in the area.
