The nomination filing process for the urban local polls have begun in Coimbatore and the Makkal Needhi Maiam candidate has filed nominations.
Coimbatore: Makkal Needhi Maiam candidate filed nominations in Coimbatore on Tuesday, ahead of the local polls.
The Makkal Needhi Maiam Party is contesting separately ahead of the urban local body elections in February. The party's candidates were announced in the Coimbatore district and have been filing nominations since Friday.
Jason Mary, who was declared as the 64th ward candidate from Coimbatore, filed her nomination papers at the Central Regional Office on Tuesday.
She has stated that she would start collecting votes on Wednesday.
The party men congratulated Mary on the nominations.
It may be noted that so far, 20 candidates have filed nominations in Coimbatore Corporation, 46 candidates in Town Panchayats, and 28 candidates in the Municipality.
