Coimbatore: The water level of Coimbatore's Siruvani Dam has dropped to 39 feet due to lack of rains.
The Siruvani Dam supplies drinking water to 36 wards and hundreds of roadside villages under the Coimbatore Corporation. The Siruvani Dam can store 22.47 sq. km of water. The dam is 49.53 ft. high and 878.5 meters above sea level, with a water capacity of 650 million cubic ft.
The water level of the dam had risen to 45 ft. due to heavy rains in the past few days in the Siruvani dam area. But it has now dropped to 39 ft. due to lack of rain at present. Due to this, only 88 MLT of water is currently being drawn by the Coimbatore Corporation for drinking water purposes.
