TNSTC Coimbatore generates ₹ 11-crore revenue through special buses operated for Pongal season this year

With a 39-lakh lesser revenue compared to the last year, TNSTC Coimbatore has generated ₹ 11.29-crores this Pongal Season through the special buses operated.


Coimbatore: TNSTC Coimbatore has generated 11.29-crores this Pongal Season through the special buses operated.

The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation operated special buses on 11th, 12th and 13th January on the occasion of Pongal festival and also on 17th, 18th and 19th January. As many as 240 special buses were operated on behalf of The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Coimbatore.

The buses covered districts including Tirupur, Madurai, Theni, Palani, Trichy, Dindigul, Thoothukudi and Chennai. These special buses generated revenue of 11.29-crores. However, the revenue generated through the Pongal Special Buses last year, was 11.68-crores, which is 39 lakh lesser, this year.

An official of the Coimbatore Division State Transport Corporation said, “Special buses were operated on behalf of Coimbatore Transport Corporation. The buses travelled 45-lakh kilometres last year and 49-lakhs this year. Due to the pandemic, most people avoided visiting their hometown and celebrated Pongal here. Thus, revenue of 11.29 was generated this year.”
