The NH construction from Tirupur to Dharapuram road which was in progress for 5 years is now complete and a toll booth has been set up occupying a large part of the pond located in the Velampatti area.
While the distance for the city and municipal area is only 21 km, the road maintained by the toll center is 32 km.
The agitators stated that the toll fee collected for this distance is against the norms and the Velampatti anti-toll movement, agricultural organizations among others have joined forces and stage protests against the new tollgate.
