A disturbed father in Coimbatore poisoned his two mentally-impaired children and attempted suicide as he was unable to take care of the children.


Coimbatore: A disturbed father in Coimbatore poisoned his two mentally-impaired children and attempted suicide as he was unable to take care of the children.

Samidurai of Varadarajapuram, Singanallur is a fitter by profession. He is survived by his wife Ramalakshmi and two sons Vignesh (9) and Akash (7), both mentally challenged. One of the parents was always by their side to take care. However, in a tragic incident, Samidurai poisoned both his sons and also consumed it as he was fed up with taking care of both his mentally-challenged children.

Ramalakshmi who was not at home at the time of the incident was shocked to find her husband and her children in an unconscious state. The three were rushed to the Government Hospital.

The Singanallur police was informed about the incident and conducted an in-person inquiry. Investigations revealed that Samidurai had attempted to commit suicide by consuming pesticides also providing it to both his sons.

All the three are currently undergoing treatment at Coimbatore Government Hospital. The incident has created a stir in the city.
