‘Moon Man’ Mylswamy Annadurai visits hometown Pollachi; overwhelmed at seeing water streaming in Kothavadi Lake

The Vice-President of TNSCTC, Mylswamy Annadurai visited the Kothavadi Lake in Pollachi, his hometown, and stated that he was overwhelmed by seeing water in the lake.



Pollachi: The Vice-President of TNSCST, Mylswamy Annadurai visited the Kothavadi Lake in Pollachi, his hometown, and stated that he was overwhelmed by seeing water in the lake.

The 152-acre Kothavadi Lake in Kinathukadavu is nearing its full capacity after 30 years as the surplus water was released through the canal in Parambikulam Aliyar Irrigation Project.

The ISRO Scientist and the Vice-President of Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology, Mylswamy Annadurai visited the lake in his native village after 30 years with his family last evening. The scientist, who congratulated the volunteers and farmers who worked hard to revive the lake, stated to the reporters that, the ‘Aditya’, project to study the sun has been suspended for two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

He added that the chances of Indians going into space from India are high. The ISRO satellite is stationed at 15-million kilometres between the sun and the earth to study and explore the star for its information, and the project will be complete within two years. Mylswamy Annadurai informed that efforts are on to take humans to space and if opportunities available, ISRO will work on a manned mission to the moon. He said ISRO will work on the situation and will explore the safety of manned missions into space and the safety of unmanned spacecraft to the moon.

The ISRO Scientist Mylswamy Annadurai told reporters that he was very happy that everyone had worked together and brought water to the Kothavadi lake.

He expressed, “For a person who was able to detect the presence of water in the Moon, I was worried about the scarcity of water in my hometown, but the efforts of the farmers and volunteers have become fruitful and I am overwhelmed”.
