National Health Service Commission inspects 17 primary health centers in Tirupur

The National Health Services Commission (NHRC) has been tasked with auditing the multi-crore fraud at primary health centers in Tirupur.


Tirupur: A team from the National Health Service Commission last week inspected 17 primary health centers in Tirupur Corporation areas. They found that irregularities had taken place by not using any funds allocated for improving the infrastructure facilities for primary health centers.

Following this, a team led by Chitra from the Chennai (NHM) National Health Service Commission was ordered to audit the accounts of funds disbursed from 2010 to March 2021. Accordingly, an audit is being conducted today at the meeting hall of the Maternity Primary Health Center at Avinashi Road, Tirupur.

In the first phase, the authorities are involved in auditing the accounts of 8 primary health centers including Weavers Colony, DSK, 15.

Velampalayam, Nallur, Guruvayoorappan Nagar, Kovilvazhi. Officials' investigated as to why only a small number of deliveries were taking place at primary health centers. The investigation revealed that the lack of infrastructure, including beds, at primary health centers is one of the reasons. Following this, an audit has been ordered.
