NTK Chief Coordinator Senthamizhan Seeman demands to cancel transfer of Nilgiris district collector

The Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) Chief Coordinator Senthamizhan Seeman seeks TN Government to cancel the transfer of Nilgiris Collector Innocent Divya.

The Nilgiris: The Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) Chief Coordinator Senthamizhan Seeman has demanded that the Tamil Nadu government cancels the transfer of Innocent Divya, the Nilgiris District Collector.

Highlighting the Supreme Court’s order in 2018, stating the Nilgiris Collector should not be transferred by the state government until the Elephant Corridor is restored, NTK Chief Coordinator has stated that the DMK Government has to abolish the transfer process of the District Collector Innocent Divya.

Innocent Divya took charge as the District Collector and District Magistrate of Nilgiris in July 2017 and she had has served this post for more than four years. However, she has been transferred upon her own request.

Seeman stated, “The District Collector, since taking charge has tremendously worked to protect the ecology in Nilgiris District. She has as well done a great job in carrying out various constructive measures such as the prohibition of improper felling of trees, imposed ban on borewells, taken stringent measures to completely eradicate plastics, sealing of illegal buildings and has worked for the district to be ranked first in Covid prevention. The Elephant Corridor issue was handled with utmost concern, through which the District Collector gained the goodwill of the locals.”

He added that the DMK Government has been creating the impression that the District Collector is seeking a transfer for personal reasons is confirming the suspicion of the locals, who earlier doubted the transfer was done in favour of the privately owned inn in the Elephant corridor area. Seeman stated that the District Collector’s transfer would be a setback in restoring Elephant Corridor and urged the state government to immediately abandon its decision to transfer the District Collector.
